Richmond Hill holds National Night Out

RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) -

Richmond Hill held its annual National Night Out on Thursday night in J.F. Gregory Park.

It's an annual nationwide event that encourages community-police partnerships by teaching crime prevention techniques and neighborhood safety, but there were also plenty of fun things to do.

There were antique cars on display, martial arts demonstrations, a rock climbing wall, water slides, face painting and other kids activities.

All the emergency service members were there, including fire, police, EMS and the Red Cross.

"I think we have a good relationship with our community," said Richmond Hill Police Chief Billy Reynolds. "We are very visible; we are out in our community. They know that if they call, we will assist them. We are just proud about the low crime rate we have, and getting to work with the people and the relationships we have with our businesses here."

The event ran from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
