Truck that injured 3 Hall Co. firefighters previously owned by Bluffton Twp. Fire

A fire truck involved in an incident that injured three Hall County, GA firefighters in Florida was previously owned by Bluffton Township Fire District.

Bluffton sold the truck back to the company they got it from, because they too had issues with it.

According to a 2013 Beaufort County Council report, the truck was sold back to the company because it posed too great a liability to maintain it.

In the September 2013 report, the department lists a number of concerns, including issues with the aerial ladder and failing extension cables.

In the report the department said they lost all confidence in the truck and its safety and capabilities.

They sold it back to Sutphen in July 2013.

According to a letter Sutphen sent to the county, they agreed to buy the truck back from the district as is, and they were responsible for the truck and any repairs it needed.

The Hall County Fire Department purchased the truck sometime after Sutphen bought it back, and on July 22 of this year, three fire fighters were injured while working with the truck.

They're still in the hospital.

Neither the Bluffton Township Fire District nor Beaufort County would comment on the sale of the truck, but they did say their thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters who have been injured in this incident and they sincerely hope that they make a swift and complete recovery.
