GSU Police Dept. joins Statesboro-Bulloch County Crime Suppression Team

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Southern Eagles joined a new team on friday in the fight against crime.

The university's police department officially joined the Statesboro-Bulloch County Crime Suppression Team. They'll assign two officers to join sheriff's deputies and city police officers to crack down on crimes like drug sales, property thefts and violent crimes.

"If you intend to commit crime in Bulloch County, this team is going to be after you," said GSU President Dr. Brooks Keel. "It does blur the lines between the university campus, the Statesboro city limits and the rest of Bulloch County."

Statesboro Police and Bulloch County Sheriff's Office formed the team last year with officers from each agency.
