Rincon Dentist donates mouth protection gear to Benedictine Military School

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Angela Canfield, DDS of Premier Dental Designs in Rincon has donated over 9,000 dollars worth of mouth protection gear to the Benedictine Military School football team as they soon get underway with their 2014 season.

These mouth guards will cushion the blows made to teeth often encountered while playing football. Some of the injuries the mouth guards will protect against include broken teeth, fractured jaws, gum lacerations, and injuries to the lips or tongue by the teeth.

Each player will get a custom fit mouth guard in the team colors of maroon and white.

Mouth guards normally cost 85 dollars apiece and Dr. Canfield is donating 110 custom fit mouth guards free of charge to the Benedictine Military School football team.

The American Dental Association estimates the use of mouth guards prevents around 200,000 injuries per year among high school and college football teams.
