Vidalia turns colors to fight breast cancer

VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) -

More than 100 runners took on bright colors as they ran the streets of Vidalia on Saturday.

Vidalia's Sweet Onion Color fun run raised money to help fight and treat breast cancer. The ladies of Vidalia's Volumptuous Vixens will take part in the Susan G. Komen walk in Atlanta and Team Stepping for TaTa's will be in the Atlanta 2day aka "It's The Journey."

Volunteers lined the run course and tossed colorful powder on each runner. They reached a finish line to even more powder. From there, booths offered food or games.

By afternoon, the Tiger Creek Band and Rusty Williams had rocked the stage. In total, the day raised $2,818.

The proceeds will help the groups with the amount required to take part in their respective walks.

In addition, they also made a donation to the Nick Eason Foundation for the Iris Wilcox Cancer Center in Vidalia.
