Sk8 City and CCSO host school supply giveaway

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

Sk8 City in Pooler and the Chatham County Sheriff's Office came together to provide children with school supplies and spread a drug free message on Sunday, August 3rd starting at noon.

The first 200 children to attend the event received brand new school supplies free of charge to help them get ahead during the 2014 school year.

The Sk8 City Sirens Derby Team is worked with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office to spread a drug free message by providing students with school supplies that have that exact message on them.

"Well, it's really important to get the message out about staying off of drugs, that's our sheriff's message and that's what all of our school supplies have on them," said Gina Bilbo of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office. "We're hoping that even looking at a pen or a pencil one day might encourage a child to stay drug free."

Patrick's Uniforms was also at the event to register students for their school uniform giveaway.

The event was held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sk8 City is located at 4 Towne Center Court in Pooler.
