Terrell County opens new Cooper-Carver Elementary School

TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - School officials in Terrell County will start off the new school year with a new elementary school.

The new Cooper-Carver Elementary School will house students from two old elementary campuses.

Superintendent Robert Aaron says it took about 14 months to complete the project and teachers look forward to starting the new year.

Dozens of families turned out for Sunday's ribbon cutting. The new campus has 50 classrooms, and a media center.

“We were glad to see the community come out as you know we have a late start on school and we were hoping all our parents would turn out for this occasion, and they did..School will start for us on the 7th of August. and were prepared to have them enter into the new school," says Robert Aaron, Superintendent of Schools.

The new Cooper-Carver Elementary School can accommodate 750 students. The total cost of the project was 15 million dollars.
