Chatham County holds practice bus run

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Chatham County held a practice bus run for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Monday morning.

Children and their parents were allowed to go along for the ride.

Riding the bus for the first time can be scary, both for the kids and the parents. This practice run is aimed at making things easier, so the kids know exactly where they're going and what to expect.

It's also good for the drivers because they can learn their route and meet some of the kids.

"We're going out on buses to do what they call a wet run. That way we would know the day school starts that we would know exactly where we're going, exactly what time to get there and the parents know that we're going to be there," bus driver LaRose Vosburgh said.

The buses operated on the published morning route pick-up times and picked up all the students and took them to school.

Once they got to the school, the bus drivers made the return trip to drop all the students back off.
