Police search for suspect in Robertville District Fire Station break-in

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

Jasper County Emergecy Services are searching for a suspect who broke into the Robertville District Fire Station overnight Saturday.

Authorities said they believe only personal items were taken and no major equipment was broken.

It's frustrating for these first responders that this would happen in the first place, but it's the fact that this is the second time in less than two weeks.

"You can see where they actually had to force entry they took some kind of pry bar," Chief of Jasper County Emergency Services Wilbur Daley said.

The damage to the door is still visible.

Daley said there was an on duty firefighter who probably helped scare the criminal away, but not before he or she took some personal items from the firefighters.

All this happened just a few weeks after a similar break-in at another Jasper County fire station just a few miles away.

"I take it as a personal slap in the face basically because we do put all we have into trying to serve the community, and we're here to work with whoever may need help. It's kind of disappointing to me that certain people come in and try to destroy what we're trying to do," Daley said.

Police are currently investigating and ask if you have any information to contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.
