EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Ivy Tech Community College and Western Kentucky University signed a joint admissions agreement Tuesday that will offer Ivy Tech-Southwest students a streamline to attending WKU.

The partnership will allow students to have direct access to Western Kentucky after completing an Associate's Degree at Ivy Tech.

Students from Dubois, Gibson, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties are eligible to receive in-state tuition at WKU Owensboro campus.

Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel says the agreement will allow the students straight access to Western Kentucky.

"They have another opportunity for obtaining a 4 year degree," Weinzapfel said. "If they would like to go to Western Kentucky, this is a way of making the process streamline, making it more affordable to help facilitate the goals of the student."

There will be an Western Kentucky University academic advisor at Ivy Tech's campus to assist students.

Ivy Tech has a similar partnership with USI.
