EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Students arriving at South Effingham Elementary were greeted by many changed on Wednesday.

Over the summer the 30-year-old school underwent many renovations. Every wall and classroom was repainted, and new shelving and white boards were placed in classrooms.

Bathrooms were redone, as well as the water fountains and ceiling tiles. Teachers were allowed in their classrooms just a few days ago, but they were excited to see the changes.

"So for teachers, there are some staff members that have been here for that long, and they are just amazed and excited," said Principal Anna Barton. "The parents during open house were so excited to see the changes. It's a floor to ceiling renovation."

There are still some upgrades that need to be completed, including the library and a new security feature that will require parents to get buzzed through. They hope to have everything done by Labor Day.
