The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has arrested two armed robbery suspects after an extensive 10 month long investigation.

Casey Shearhouse, 20, and Aaron Kirby, 20, both of Guyton, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

Shearhouse was arrested by Baldwin County Sheriff's deputies at a residence near Milledgeville. Kirby was arrested behind a residence on Watts Road in Effingham County after he fled from deputies.

"Basically just a lot of footwork and a lot of leg work from the investigators," said Effinghan County Sheriff's Deputy David Ehsanipoor. "We were able to put some pieces together. Corroborate some evidence."

Video shows Kirby busting into the Octane Gas Station on U.S. Highway 80 in October. He had a loaded shotgun and held the clerk at gunpoint and made him fill a bag with lottery tickets and other items. Shearhouse was the getaway driver.

"You have one guy being the getaway driver, and then you have one running into gas stations with guns, holding them to clerks' heads," said Ehsanipoor. "This is not something we can just look away. They both played their part in this. They will both face the consequences and have their day in court."

Two days before that, Shearhouse drove Kirby to the El Cheapo gas station on Long Bridge Road and they tried to rob the clerk there. However, this time the owner pulled his own gun out and scared the boys off.

"They were obviously desperate and just don't care," Ehsanipoor said.

Both men are on probation and Kirby is a convicted felon.

"We are going to put our resources together," Ehsanipoor said. "We may not solve it one day or two, but eventually we are going to find you, and we are going to solve these crimes."

Kirby has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and false imprisonment. Shearhouse has been charged with armed robbery.

A 16-year-old juvenile was also arrested and charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
