School officials in Jasper County are getting ready for a new school year.
School board members had a special four hour workshop on Thursday to discuss a number of things pertaining to the upcoming school year.
One of the main topics included some changes coming to the district's policies, such as the way board meetings should be conducted and how the district should handle bullying in the schools.
"The major part of the board's responsibility is the look at its policies and adjust and monitor those policies based on the times we live in," said Jasper County Superintendent Vashti Washington.
Students in Jasper County return to school on Aug. 18.
