Flight from New York to Savannah makes emergency landing at Hunter Army Airfield

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Delta flight from LaGuardia to Savannah made an emergency landing at Hunter Army Airfield around 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

The flight was in a holding pattern over Savannah when the aircraft began to run on low fuel. Air control diverted the plane to Hunter, where the aircraft landed safely.

Hunter officials said the plane will be refueled and then continue to the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. However, due to weather, the refueling is being delayed and no set time for departure has been announced.

Passengers are off the plan and are in the Prescott Air Terminal currently. There were 155 passengers onboard.
