Portion of I-95 dedicated to Joe E. Brown in Liberty Co.

MIDWAY, GA (WTOC) -

A portion of Interstate 95 is now dedicated to Joe E. Brown, former State Representative and member of the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The part of I-95 inside the Liberty County line will have signs with Joe E. Brown's name on them to honor his memory and his involvement with GDOT's work on I-95.

The dedication ceremony was held at 10:00 a.m. at Holton's Restaurant in Midway, Brown's family was in attendance as well as state Senator Buddy Carter.

Joe E. Brown is described by his family and friends as a public servant and community leader. He even served in the Georgia General Assembly in the House of Representatives.

"We are dedicating this road, part of I-95 to Joe E Brown. He was a great public servant here in Liberty County. You know, Liberty County is all about community, family, and service and Joe Brown embodied all those things," said State Senator, Buddy Carter, District 1.

First Congressional District Board member Ann Purcell said, "People will say that man Joe Brown, as they see the sign, must have meant a whole lot not only to his family but the community for the foundation he laid."
