Heavy rain leaves parts of Savannah underwater

Posted: Updated:
The intersection at Anderson and East Broad Street was shut down by Savannah Fire on Saturday, due to flooding.

The street was basically a lake, and one car even got stuck in the middle.

The same thing also happened on Woodland Avenue; the Magnolia Park area. The ditches were about six feet deep, and cars were basically floating in the road.

A tree even came down on Truman Parkway Northbound, causing traffic delays.

But, the flooded roads caused most of the issues this afternoon, and it is a problem. Many people in Savannah are aggravated with it.

"I'm tired of it. Although I don't have a car, but still, and yet if I had some place to go, I can't go. Nobody could pick me up, or anything of the sort, because you saw it for yourself; it's crazy," said Elizabeth Taylor, Savannah resident.

WTOC's own Jonathan Burton was out there for quite some time and told us that a lot of folks were actually driving through the water.
