BSCO investigating shooting on St. Paul's Church Road

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Monday night in Beaufort.

Just before 10 p.m., deputies responded to 1301 Ribault Road in reference to a reported gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, they met with a complainant who advised that his friend had sustained a gunshot injury while in the area of St. Paul's Church Road.

The complainant reported that he'd dropped his friend off at Beaufort Mobile Home Park at approximately 8:30 pm. About an hour later, he received a phone call from his friend asking to come pick him up because he'd been shot.

The complainant picked the victim up near the mailboxes at the mobile home park and called 911.

The victim, a 38-year-old male, was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

The victim advised that he had been walking in the area of St. Paul's Church Road near the church when he met with two black male subjects in their early 20s. He and the males got into an altercation, during which he heard a gunshot, and realized that he had been struck.

The victim reported that he never saw the gun and did not remember what happened after that.

Deputies searched the alleged incident location, but were unable to find any evidence of the shooting.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Investigator LCpl. J. Snider at 843-255-3421.
