CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Charges are pending against a driver who led police on a high speed chase early on Wednesday morning.

The chase started near Highway 17 and 144 and ended near Canebrake Road just before Bamboo Farms.

Police said around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday an officer traveling northbound on Highway 17 near the railroad viaduct spotted an erratic driver. When the officer tried to stop the driver, the vehicle accelerated quickly, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour.
