County sets new safety precautions for Memorial Stadium

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Chatham County is laying out new safety precautions for Memorial Stadium this high school football season.

Officials say the stadium is structurally safe, they just want to make sure the public is safe at the facility.

New this season, the public will use the north gate to enter the stadium bleachers. Only the north end restrooms will be used during games. There may also be portable restrooms the first weekend.

The county is also closing the 12 corridors that lead to the underside of the stadium, and there will now be portable concession vendors on the north end.

Falling debris issues from last season prompted the changes for this season.
