Savannah State University tobacco free by Sept. 1

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah State University has announced the school will become a tobacco free campus, effective September 1.

The announcement comes after the University System of Georgia Board of Regents passed its Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy earlier this year. It requires full implementation at all institutions by October 1 of this year.

The new policy prohibits the use of tobacco products anywhere on campus, including inside vehicles and outdoor areas, such as parks, pavilions and parking lots.
