Leopold's Ice Cream celebrates 95 tasty years

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Leopold's Ice Cream in Savannah is throwing a Birthday Block Party to celebrate 95 years of tasty memories downtown.

Come celebrate the history behind the shop founded in 1919 by three brothers from Greece.

Peter, Basil, and George passed down a tradition of making delicious ice cream and now the shop is operated by Stratton Leopold, Peter's youngest son, and Stratton's wife Mary.

"I think of my dad and my uncles, it's just such a warm feeling thinking about 95 years and we're still making ice cream the same way they. It's just so much fun I can't tell ya, said Stratton Leopold."

Starting at noon live music, games, kid's activities, contests, and dancing in the street will be happening right outside Leopold's Ice Cream shop on Broughton Street.

Leopold's is asking everyone to join them as they blow out the candles on their 95th birthday cake at 3:00 p.m.

The event will last until 8:30 p.m. and is located at 212 E. Broughton Street.
