UNION GROVE, AL (WAFF) -

A well-known former wrestler is in Marshall County this week.

Nikita Koloff, the Minnesota-native also known as the 'Russian Nightmare,' will preach the gospel at a Christian church in Union Grove.

In 1993, the same year he left wrestling, Koloff said he felt something was missing in his life and said he's found it in his faith.

Having not made his dream of going into pro football, Koloff began his nine-year wrestling career with no experience in 1984.

Koloff was asked if wrestling was fake. His answer: It's 100-percent entertainment and 100-percent real. He said the falls and every other risk that goes on with the sport can be painful and cause injury.

Looking back, Koloff said his years as a professional wrestler were memorable, no matter if he was playing the good guy or the bad guy.

"I'm thankful that I got the opportunity to experience both sides of it," Koloff said. "To go in the ring and just from bell time to bell time, entertain the fans; and for me, to have the satisfaction that at least for my match I sent them home with them getting their moneys worth."

Koloff will preach at a revival at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Union Grove Monday through Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The general public is invited to attend.
