'Troops to Energy' holds graduation ceremony

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A graduation ceremony was held Thursday at Fort Stewart for ten soldiers who recently completed Georgia Power's "Troops to Energy" jobs training.

It was established in support of Soldier for Life, a U.S. Army program designed to assist military service members and their families in the transition from active duty to the civilian job market.

"We have a long history of recruiting and placing soldiers in the workforce and this is just one first step in that effort and we'll be back here very soon and hopefully have more soldiers from Fort Stewart enter the workforce at Georgia Power," Georgia Power spokesperson Brian Green said.

All ten soldiers who completed the three-week training course, which included segments on safety and compliance, as well as hands-on experience with tools and equipment, received job offers at Georgia Power.
