Lowcountry residents try to stay cool

People in Hampton County are feeling the heat as temperatures crept up to 100 degrees in parts of the Lowcountry.

People said they're beating the extreme temperatures inside, and those out and about are blasting the AC or trying to stay in the shade.

"The sun beaming on you makes it feel a whole lot worse, and the sweat just rolls," said James Porter. "It feels pretty tough right now, it's going to be even worse this afternoon."

"It's hot," said Jean Padgett. "It's real hot. I keep the air conditioning on and today I just decided to leave the house to get something to eat and go right back."

Remember, use sunscreen and drink plenty of water when you're out in the heat.
