Mailboxes vandalized in Savannah Pines

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

How many times a week do you check your mail? What if you had to drive half an hour round trip to get it? That is the dilemma residents at Savannah Pines are dealing with after their mailboxes were vandalized.

Now, all of the residents have to drive downtown to pick up any mail or packages.

"I'm spending $10 in gas to drive downtown everyday to get my mail. These things have been broken for almost three months and the post office is giving us the run around about our mail," Sissy Hall said.

The problem is the mobile home park said it's federal property that the U.S. Post Office needs to fix, but the post office told them that is not the case.

It has been a long three months for many people at Savannah Pines, only checking their mail once or twice a week. Several pieces of mail have been taken and although the manager here has tried to call and get it fixed she said she is getting ignored.

"The box is just broken so they have to take it down to the main post office and it is just frustrating. That is what we here every day we get calls of people just frustrated," manager of Savannah Pines Gwendolyn Pruitt said.

WTOC reached out to the post office and they said they would have to get back to us. As of now, mail cannot be dropped at the office and everyone has to pick their mail up on Fahm Street.
