SSU holds forum in wake of Ferguson incident

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

In response to the recent incident in Ferguson, MO, students at Savannah State University held a panel discussion on Monday night with members of the NAACP.

Several topics were up for discussion and comments, including racial justice, the recent shooting of Michael Brown, police brutality and the state of the black man in America.

One of the professors who put the event together said she is overwhelmed by the response.

"My students came to me feeling all agitated and frustrated and wanting to voice their concerns for and not really being able to find a space to do that, so they asked me to help them facilitate a forum where they could ask questions and share their response and their thoughts," said Prof. Kameelah Martin.

Students and faculty from Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern came to Savannah State to join in on the discussion.
