US Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, working with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Pooler Police Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Bluffton Police Department arrested 41-year-old James Authur Gable and 44-year-old John Bennett.

Acting in conjunction with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, the U. S. Marshals Service established surveillance on a motel in Pooler, GA, on Aug. 26. As a result of the investigation and surveillance, U. S. Marshals and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office discovered that both subjects were staying in a room at the motel.

Police officers quickly secured the perimeter of the establishment and blocked all avenues of escape.

Upon entry in the room, both subjects were seen lying in bed and were taken into custody after they tried to hide under the bed covers. Both subjects were turned over to the Pooler Police Department, Bluffton Police investigators, the FBI and Beaufort County deputies.

Gable is charged with entering bank, depository or building and loan association with intent to steal and theft or solicitation of person using automated teller machine for the robbery of Sun Trust Bank in July and TD Bank in August.

The Sun Trust Bank robbery occurred on July 14 at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Westbury Park in Bluffton.

The TD Bank robbery happened on August 22 at the Fording Island Road location in Bluffton.

Bennett is charged with accessory after the fact for the robbery of Sun Trust Bank.

Bennett and Gable are housed at the Chatham County Jail and are awaiting extradition back to South Carolina.
