Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission passes vote to establish legal definition of short-term rentals

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission passed a vote on Tuesday 8-3 to establish a definition for short-term rentals.

The next step is for the measure to go before the Savannah City Council for a vote. The city council can approve, deny or send the measure back to the MPC for reconsideration. However, the vote on this measure is not expected for another three weeks at the earliest.

The MPC established a legal definition short-term residential rental agreement, which would be the first of its kind in Savannah. While short-term rentals have been allowed in Savannah, there is now a legal definition for what is allowed in terms of where these rentals will be allowed, parking issues and how many people per rental.
