Vigil held for 13-year-old Carrollton boy shot while he slept

Family and friends gathered Wednesday night in Carroll County for another vigil and another chance to remember a 13-year-old boy taken too soon.

This is at least the second time loved ones have held a vigil for Nizzear Rodriguez since he was shot and killed while he slept in side his apartment Sunday.

During Wednesday night's vigil, people prayed and listened as others spoke kind words about Nizzear. One young woman belted out the gospel tune "I Give Myself Away" by William McDowell. Nizzear's family said they want to show others it's time to put an end to the violence.

"I hope it helps other children out, keeping someone else's child safe from having to go through this and having someone else's family having to go through what we're going through right now," said Kanisha Osorio, the victim's aunt. "Just trying to make our community better."

Malik Davis, 17, and Kenneth Wheat, 21, are charged with of murder, burglary, and possession of a firearm while committing a crime in Nizzear's death.

Police also arrested Jackquline Freeman, 24. Police believe she was the getaway driver.

They also arrested Oleida Ward, 34. She's charged with making false statements to police.
