Mercer Middle School evacuated after suspicious odor detected

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

School officials at Mercer Middle School evacuated the all students and faculty after they detected as suspicious odor in the building Thursday morning. 

They detected a suspicious odor in the building and evacuated all 484 children outside as they called Garden City Fire, Garden City police and campus police. 

The scene has been cleared but one child did overheat. That child's parent is on site and they are taking them to the hospital.

    A cold front will then move through Monday night followed by a stronger cold front late Tuesday and Tuesday night. High pressure will then prevail into the late week before another cold front possibly affects the area next weekend.
