AARP Smart Driver Program at St. Mary's

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

St. Mary's Health is hosting two driving classes for olderadults.

The first class was Thursday at St. Mary's Women's andChildren's Hospital.

The next class is Tuesday, September 23, from noon to 4 p.m.in Meeting Room 2 at St. Mary's Health.

The classes are part of the new AARP Smart Driver Program.  Seniors are not required to drive or taketests.  The classes are refreshercourses.

Those who sign up for the class will learn how to adjust theway they drive factoring in age-related changes to vision, hearing and reactiontime.  There will also be informationprovided about aggressive drivers, defensive driving techniques, new trafficlaws, distracted driving and the latest safety technology.

Attendees may receive insurance discounts upon completingone of the four-hour courses. 

The cost for AARP members is $15. Non-members will pay$20.

    A young Statesboro child is undergoing plastic surgery to her face after a dog attacked her on Saturday afternoon.  The girl is receiving treatment to close her gaping wounds as doctors work to keep scarring at a minimum.  You can see the original Facebook post here.
