Bluffton police investigate robbery at country western store

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

Bluffton police are investigating an early morning robbery.

Police say they are not exactly sure what time the breakin occured, but they received the call around 7 a.m. Friday at 22 Plantation Park Drive. Police say someone broke into to El Fronterizo, a country western clothing store, and stole the register and credit card machine.

Owners say they are thankful the suspect(s) did not take any of the merchandise.

"They could have taken a couple hats which would have been worth probably $1,000, and boots, if you took probably two to three pairs, those would have been up to more than $1,000 as well," said Abilene Carrillo, owner El Fronterizo.

When Jeri Izso, the owner of A Beautiful You salon, arrived to work Friday morning she saw five police cars and officers walking around.

Izso's salon is at the end of the plaza where the robbery happened, so immediately she was worried.

"People are getting a little bolder...and it is hitting a little too close to home," she said.

Some of the business owners said this will not affect their business.

"I've been in business for many years and its a very common occurrence for people to disrespect property and try to take what's yours so no, I'm not on pins and needles," Pam Roberson with Hilton Head Vapes said.

Though these incidents have these business owners double checking their alarm systems, they said they do feel safe here and that these two incidents are the first in a number of years.

There were no surveillance cameras in the store and so far, police do not have any leads.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of Plantation Park Drive Friday morning is asked to contact Bluffton police.
