Escapade unable to sail after civil dispute

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

On Friday, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police were sent to the dock where the Escapade sits concerning a civil dispute.

Around 12:30 p.m., police were out "arresting" the boat for a debt that is past due. They said it could not sail Friday because they didn't pay their bills.

WTOC learned they got refitted at a company in North Charleston, called Detyens Shipyards Incorporated, and they had a past due debt.

According to Facebook, the ship was supossed to start boarding at noon on Friday and the trip was scheduled from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., but couldn't go out becuase the ship is under a court order.

Tradewinds Casino Company then later posted, "Today's no sail was a big misunderstanding and has been resolved. We will be sailing tomorrow as scheduled."

They will sail Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 1 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for the holiday weekend, but there will be no late night cruises.

Just last week the Escapade received their liquor license.

The Escapade is the ship that ran aground last month stranding more than 100 for a day.
