BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

People who got state issued debit cards for benefits or even income tax refunds might be affected by a recent hacking attack on JP Morgan Chase.

The bank notified Louisiana officials Thursday that personal information it holds under contracts with state agencies might have been compromised.

The company said it does not know to what extent Louisiana citizens may have been exposed.

In the meantime, the state suggests people who used pre-paid debit cards issued by the state keep a close eye on credit statements and financial information for suspicious activity.

For additional information, citizens can visit the Federal Trade Commission's website at www.consumer.ftc.gov for general information about identity theft and to learn more about reporting suspected fraudulent activities.
