SCMPD investigating shooting at Skidaway Square Plaza


The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are currently investigating a shooting that happened in the parking lot of the Skidaway Square Plaza.

Police have shut down the area while they investigate.

The victim in the shooting, Devonte Mumford, age 21, of a South Parkwood Drive address, has died after being transferred to Memorial University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head.

While at the scene, Julian Miller, Public Information Officer for the SCMPD said, "It had the potential to be a serious wound, and we are in the process now of setting up the crime scene and trying to investigate. As you can tell, there are a lot of people around here at this point. Hopefully someone saw something. They can help us nail this down."

Police are asking if anyone has any information to contact Crimestoppers or the SCMPD.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate the crime.
