Hands Across Borders patrolling over Labor Day weekend

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Labor Day weekend is generally the final goodbye to summer, but for law enforcement, it is a weekend to crack down and keep the roads safe.

Officers are kicking off plans for the annual Hands Across the Border, a campaign aimed at getting impaired drivers off the roads.

This weekend, patrols from every neighboring state will be waiting at state lines to take drunk drivers into custody.

In the past, the campaign has had a history of catching not only drunk drivers, but drug offenders, fugitives with outstanding warrants and unlicensed and uninsured drivers.

This is a combined list of the arrests/citations done by SCMPD and GSP from Friday night.

 3 seatbelts
 8 suspended licenses
 3 other misdemeanors
 1 felony arrest
 2 fugitives apprehended
 1 DUI
 1 possession of marijuana
