Low gas prices encourage holiday travel

Drivers who filled up this Labor Day weekend, might have noticed they paid a little less than usual.

AAA reports drivers are paying the lowest gas prices during the holiday weekend in four years.

That's as the national price for unleaded fuel reaches a six month low.

That certainly had plenty of drivers hitting the road for the long weekend.

Some travelers say the lower prices make filling up a little less painful.

"It's a little easier to stomach that drive to work, back and forth to work," holiday traveler Wes Masterson said.

"Everything helps and gas prices coming down it helps quite a bit," SEMO student Chad Brown said.

Take a look at state averages per gallon around the Heartland:

Unleaded fuel price averages for September 1, 2014

-Missouri- $3.203
-Tennessee- $3.205
-Kentucky- $3.426
-Illinois- $3.558
