Family receiving death threats after 16-month-old shot, killed

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The family of a 16-month-old girl who was shot to death in the Shawnee neighborhood has been the target of death threats since the shooting.

Neriah Miller was shot and killed on Wednesday Aug. 27, on the front porch of her home on South 37th Street.

Her mother, Cierra Miller, was also shot and was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where she is continuing to recover.

Rev. Jerald Muhammad said the family has received phone calls and death threats.

Louisville Metro Police are providing the family with 24-hour protection.

The family is hopeful an arrest will be made soon and said they will address the media at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2.
