BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The wait is over, and Beaufort's History Museum is finally open to the public.

The city's dozens of historical artifcats finally have a home in the 200-year-old Arsenal Building in downtown Beaufort. The museum holds items dating back hundreds of years, from the beginning of Beaufort's history up to today.

"It's a wonderful one stop shop for visitors here in the Beaufort area, but we also rotate our exhibits and are offering programming and education components for our Beaufort residents, so I feel we offer a little bit to everyone who might come through the door," said Anna Schaffer, president of the Beaufort History Museum.

The history museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Active military members, their families and children can experience the museum for free. Tickets are $5 for adults.
