Military Salute: 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion

LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) -

For Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield's Adopt-A-School Program links Army units with local schools to provide assistance and foster understanding.

WTOC would like to offer a Military Salute to the 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion, the Sentinels, part of the Vanguard Brigade, the Fourth Infantry Brigade Combat Team and their partnership with Bradwell Institute.

Bradwell Institute's softball home opener was special on many levels, including Maj. Robert Graetz, acting commander of the 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion throwing out the first pitch.

Of the 23 girls on JV and varsity for the Lady Tigers, half of them have active or retired military in their immediate family.

"I'm out here throwing the first pitch because Bradwell is our partner school," said Graetz. "We're part of this community, and we're showing our support for them, just like they show their support for us."

SSgt. Traci Gregg of the Third ID Band sang the National Anthem, and that was just the tip of the iceberg of the many ways the Marne Division supports local schools.

"I don't know of anything that we ask for from our folks at school to on post that they don't help us with, and we greatly appreciate that," said Ken Griffin, Bradwell Institute Athletic Director.

Even though the Lady Tigers didn't win the game over friendly rival Liberty County High, all of the girls hope the added support will help them through the whole season.

And that's why the 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion earns a WTOC Military Salute.
