Teachers from Chatham, Effingham, and Beaufort County joined forces on Tuesday to train for the Savannah Music Festival's Musical Explorers.
Musical Explorers builds basic music skills in the classroom as children learn songs from different cultures, reflect on their own communities, and develop listening and singing skills. During the 2014-2015 school year, students in grades K through 2nd Grade are exploring various music style.
"People that aren't musicians are always scared of music. Our goal here today is to show them that it is fun, it is easy, and it is something that can be integrated into every classroom," said Dr. Jenny Woodruff, Education Director, Savannah Music Festival.
Over 200 teachers from more than 50 schools participated in Tuesday night's training session.
