'Marne Thunder' returns to Fort Stewart

FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

"Marne Thunder" has returned to Fort Stewart with a bang on Friday.

The 3rd Infantry Division's 42nd Fires Brigade deactivated and the Division Artillery Brigade, "Divarty," reactivated.

A ceremony held at Fort Stewart's Marne Garden marked the transition. Colonel John O'Grady said the change is to ensure trained, ready, certified and competent fire supporters and field artilleryman are provided to maneuver commanders.

"At the end of the day, a disciplined organization that lives the Army values and Army professional ethic and provides fire support to maneuver commanders that's our sacred trust with them, our soldiers, and the American public that provides those soldiers to us," he said.

3rd ID Commanding General Major General Mike Murray also gave remarks at the ceremony.
