DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - A Daufuskie Island artist taking home the national Martha Stewart award and making a difference for a child with cancer.

Metal sculptor Chase Allen is the winner of Martha Stewart's American Made Audience Choice Award. He forges colorful metal coastal sculptures that are unique and rustic.

Allen is pledging to donate most of his $10, 000 prize money to help pay the medical bills of 6-year-old Holmes Desmelik from North Carolina. Holmes is battling an inoperable brain tumor.

If you would like to make a difference for Holmes too, a Facebook page has been created to keep supporters informed on his progress and to continue efforts to raise funds for his treatment. Click here to help.
