Elementary Students Give Cookies to Troops

Kids and cookies are a natural combination. But this time the kids are giving the cookies away. Garrison Elementary students presented one Army unit with a cookie salute. Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookies, the chain known for its sweet start to a hotel stay, is behind the project, part of the Teaching Kids to Care program.

The kids voted to see who gets the cookies.

"I'm very proud of what my guys do and I think this event and these cookies will help remind them just exactly why they are doing what they do for the families and loved ones back home," said Col. Pete Lennon 1189th Terminal Brigade.

Doubletree sent about 250,000 chocolate chip cookies to 100 cities across the country.
