Savannah-Chatham Students Honored at Awards Ceremony

Despite recent controversy, members of the Savannah-Chatham County school board took time out to honor some very special students last night. In fact, they handed out awards to more than 250 students at the fall Celebration of Excellence recognition ceremony.

The students were recognized for their accomplishments in school activities, regional competitions and other areas. The honorees from West Chatham Middle School students are Georgia Southern Model United Nations winners.

"This is an outstanding opportunity for students to be recognized for their hard work in the Model United Nations program," said West Chatham Middle principal Kerry Coursey. "It's a great program for students to learn about the world and how countries work together to resolve issues. And I'm just so excited our students had the opportunity to be recognized this evening."

The awards ceremony honored students from every stage, including elementary, middle and high school.
