GA Air National Guard holds training on Tybee Island

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - Airmen from the Georgia Air National Guard were performing airdrop training on Tuesday. They were jumping from a C-130 aircraft.

The training is critical because it helps airmen hone their para-rescue skills.

"If we're not trained...if we're not great at our jobs...then we can't complete it," Capt. Seth Adler said.

The mission of a para-rescueman is to recover downed and injured aircrew members.

This is the first time that the 165th conducted this training on Tybee Island.
