Update: The airport tells us that it expects the lot to be full by Wednesday night.
One concern when going to the airport is parking, and the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport has a solution. For the next few days, the airport has opened up a remote grass lot for parking. Cost is a $10 flat rate for customers to park for as long as they need to.
But there are only 500 spots, and airport officials expect them to go fast. "We're not even sure we will last until Thursday," said airport spokesperson Lori Griffin. "People are taking advantage of a great deal. If you have to park your car for a week and it's a $10 flat fee, that's a great deal."
The airport offers shuttle service to and from the lot which runs every five to ten minutes. But, plan on arriving early if you want to take advantage of the low-cost parking.
