Still need a flu shot? More could be on the way to the Coastal Empire. Last week, all high-risk patients who were on a waiting list received their shots at the Georgia Armory. Health officials distributed more than 4,000 doses.
In a few weeks, they will be able to vaccinate even more who aren't necessarily high risk.
"We will expand flu vaccine availability to those over the age of 50 and caregivers of high-risk people," said Dr. Diane Weems. "It's a very important group that we haven't been able to serve."
On January 3, the Chatham County Health Department will be distributing more flu vaccines, but there are a few guidelines. Again, those over the age of 50 can get the shot, as well as caregivers for seniors and all children.
Weems adds before coming to the health department, call your doctor because many offices have received more vaccine.
