One man is dead after a shooting earlier today near the BP Station on West Oglethorpe just off Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard at the base of the Talmadge Bridge on ramp.
Around 1:10pm, 18-year-old Antonio Spurgeon of Alberton, Alabama, walked into the Time Saver convenience store. He told the clerk he had been shot. He collapsed and died before he could be rushed to Memorial Health.
Police spent hours processing evidence around the scene. They fingerprinted a white Chevy Tahoe found in front of the store. They believe that was the victim's vehicle. Neighbors in nearby Yamacraw Village were also interviewed.
Police are still looking for the gunman. They say he is a young man in his late teens or early 20s who was seen running away from the scene.
An autopsy will be performed on the victim.
Police are unsure of the motive in this shooting or whether the gunman knew the victim. The convenience store is a popular destination for both nearby residents and people on their way out of town, which could make the investigation that much more involved.
