A street on Savannah's south side was turned into a river after a late-night accident. The driver of a blue Oldsmobile lost control of the car on Largo Drive and hit a fire hydrant, knocking it over and breaking the water main. The water flooded almost a quarter of a mile of Largo Drive in the Berkshire West subdivision.
One truck driver got stuck in the water when he tried to get through it.
Savannah city workers arrived on the scene around midnight and worked to get the water stopped before the morning rush hour.
The driver of the car which hit the hydrant is facing traffic charges.
